The Power of Memberships: Sustaining The Watershed Journal Literary Group and Our Region’s Creative Heart

Our organization, a nonprofit and independent literary group based in the PA Wilds, thrives thanks to the support of our members. Each year, we launch a Membership drive to fund the incredible range of free and inclusive services we offer—and to ensure that these opportunities remain available to everyone in our community.

Why Memberships Are Essential

The Watershed Journal Literary Group is more than a literary organization; it’s a creative hub that celebrates local voices and fosters community connections. We publish a quarterly literary magazine, The Watershed Journal, which is inclusive by design, accepting free submissions from writers, photographers, and artists of all backgrounds. In addition to the magazine, we host a rich calendar of events, including writer’s groups, reading groups, author events, workshops, and more—all of which are free or low-cost to attend.

Our Membership drive directly supports these initiatives. As a nonprofit, we rely on our community’s support to sustain our operations and continue offering high-quality literary programming at little to no cost. Member contributions enable us to provide a platform where voices from across our region can be heard and celebrated.

Membership Tiers: Support That Suits Everyone

To make membership accessible to all who want to contribute, we offer three tiers of support, each with unique perks that bring you closer to our organization:

• Grassroots Membership ($25)
  This entry-level tier provides a great way to support our mission and stay informed about the happenings behind the scenes. Grassroots members receive a free back issue of The Watershed Journal and our quarterly newsletter, where we share updates and insights about our organization’s inner workings.
• Traditional Membership ($75)
  Traditional members receive the quarterly newsletter as well as an annual subscription to The Watershed Journal, bringing the stories, poems, and artwork of local creators right to their door. This level is perfect for those who want to stay deeply engaged with the creativity of our region.
• Sustainability Membership ($150)
  At our highest tier, Sustainability members receive the quarterly newsletter, a magazine subscription, and a special gift curated by our Watershed staff. This tier represents an investment in the long-term health of our organization and offers members an even more personal connection to our community.
