Announcing Startup of the 21st Century Literary Fiction Book Club

Are you interested in engaging with other readers/thinkers in studies of contemporary literature
and the inspiring power of storytelling? In the new year we plan to have a book club to
exchange our ideas and appreciation of literary fiction from the last two decades.

About every month or so, we will share our perspectives on a thought-provoking work of literary
fiction that reflects the diversity, complexity, and innovation of contemporary storytelling. We
expect the book club’s meetings to be open and participatory, and to take a ‘study group’
approach as opposed to a ‘what I liked or didn’t like’ discussion. We will explore themes,
writing styles, character development, and the broader cultural context.

The book club will meet at Watershed Books on Main Street in Brookville on a Sunday
afternoon every 4-5 weeks starting January 19 at 2PM.

To kick things off, we are reading The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt for our first meeting. Come
join us. With your participation, we will connect with fellow book lovers, exchange ideas, and
deepen our appreciation of modern literary voices.
