The Watershed Journal Literary Group is excited to announce our 2026 Membership Drive is officially underway! As a grassroots, nonprofit literary organization proudly serving storytellers, writers, readers, and artists in the PA Wilds region and beyond, we’re reaching out to our community with open hearts and a simple request: join us as a member and help keep the literary spirit thriving right here at home.

At The Watershed Journal, we believe stories have the power to connect, inspire, and uplift. That’s why we offer free events throughout the year, provide access to valuable writing resources, and operate Watershed Books, our beloved used bookstore that doubles as a welcoming literary arts center—complete with space for gatherings, WiFi, and a focus on regional authors. These offerings are available to everyone in our community at no cost, but they don’t run on magic alone.

Our Membership Program is truly the backbone of our sustainability. As a small, fiscally conservative nonprofit, we rely on the generous support of members to cover essential costs like magazine production, event planning, outreach, and community investments. Our dedicated members allow us to sustain these year-round efforts. It’s because of you—our supporters—that we can keep empowering and elevating the literary community, hosting inclusive events, publishing diverse voices, and maintaining a space where creativity flourishes.

When you become a member, you’re not just donating—you’re gaining meaningful perks while directly fueling our mission. We offer three accessible tiers to fit different levels of support:

• Grassroots Member ($25): Perfect for those just starting to get involved! You’ll receive quarterly emailed newsletters packed with exclusive content and behind-the-scenes peeks from the TWJ team, plus a free back issue of The Watershed Journal literary magazine. Your contribution helps empower and elevate our literary community.
• Traditional TWJ Member ($75): This popular level sustains our core operations, including regional publishing, events, and our community space. Enjoy all the Grassroots benefits, plus all four current issues of The Watershed Journal mailed right to your door, exclusive invites to special events and special pre-order pricing on magazine bundles.
• Sustaining TWJ Member ($150): For those ready to fuel innovation and future growth! Get everything from the Traditional level (with all four issues of a recent volume mailed to you), plus the joy of knowing you’re supporting every facet of our work—events, publications, the bookstore, and more—along with recognition on our website and social media as an integral part of our community AND a special gift from Jess and Sarah.

Your membership subscription often includes a subscription to The Watershed Journal literary magazine (at the Traditional and Sustaining levels), letting you enjoy fresh, regional storytelling delivered straight to you while supporting local writers, photographers, and artists.
