There are many things that can be said

Of our beloved moon.

Her beauty and her splendor

Are sure to make you swoon.

• The moon’s abode is in

The deep blue nighttime skies.

You can see her ‘most any hour,

Though at times she likes to hide.

Up in space, far away,

She never is alone,

For twinkling, winking stars

Are speckled throughout her home.

To the South and to the North,

In the West and in the East,

The constellations remain her company,

And their shining will never cease.

The moon is like

the wand ‘ring traveler’s friend,

Glowing cheerily on cloudless evenings,

Offering light ’till night’s end.

She’s as a bride to lonely sailors,

In a silver veil in indigo skies,

And a sweetheart to daydreaming children,

Imagining far -off worlds with contented sighs.

All this is our moon, that curious thing

God placed way up in the sky,

A glowing rock to marvel at,

A lantern up on high.
