Chase here- Former Shelter dog reporting

Things have been exciting since my reports were gathered together and published as a book – CHASE REPORTS: Tales from the Field.

Mister and Missus took me along to a meeting of motorcycle people at a BBQ restaurant. I only saw one motorcycle (it was chilly outside). These people looked pretty normal to me. I got a lot of ear scratches, head pats and one very delicious bone. That man they called George shared his meal with me.

We weren’t allowed inside, but there was a nice table outside the door where we could sit and still be a part of it all. Mister and me walked around greeting people while Missus gathered people around her at the table. She said this was her first official, unofficial book signing. I put my stamp of approval on every copy.

Time went by, then one day I was delivered to the dog spa where Kathie and her team spiffed me up a bit, combing out all my loose hair and making me shine and smell good. I knew there was something special about to happen because this was a repeat of the time before the motorcycle people.

A few days later Missus tied my best necktie around my neck and we went to town…to the library!  Missus reads a lot of books and has told me a lot about a library but this was my first time inside. Wow! There are a lot of books.

Me and Mister went back outside. A lady approached us, scratched my ears and talked to Mister.

“Is this Chase, she asked, and is this where I can get my book signed?”

“Yep,” said Mister, and we escorted her inside the library where my Missus, her friend Marilyn (the illustrator of my book), as well as the friendly librarian, Sharon, stood behind a high desk. Then we left them to do whatever they do at a book signing and returned to our post at the door.

As we got back outside a man approached, patted my head and ask Mister the same question using different words (people have a lot of words). We escorted him inside. This went on for quite a while. Now and then Mister took me on little walks to stretch our legs. I even offered to water the town’s artificial Christmas Tree but Mister said it didn’t need water.

Time went fast. We made a lot of trips inside the now familiar library. I got a lot of head pats and ear scratches and saw a lot of people leaving with a copy of my book and they all seemed to be smiling.

Finally we packed up and went home where I went for a much need run, a bowl of water and a nap.

I hope we do a lot of Book Signings. That was fun.

This is Chase signing out.
